Pacific coast tides
If you are not familiar with the tides on the West Coast, you may not know that we have two high/low periods daily, which vary quite significantly. This means tide clocks, which are great for the Atlantic coast are useless here.
Every boater needs to get themselves a copy of the tide tables for the area. These are published yearly by the government and can be purchased as a booklet or the information can also be found online. Point Atkinson is the nearest tidal station for Vancouver and you can download the table here.

Advanced Sailing Skills by Sven Donaldson is the CYA authorized text for learning to sail and the Bronze Sail courses. Great book for more advanced sailors on both dinghies and cruisers. Available for $30.
